Game of Thrones Dinner – Gastro Park

So last week, the wife and I went to eat a degustation called Game of Thrones which has been created to celebrate the release of Game of Thrones Season 1 DVD and Bluray. Although neither of us has ever read or watched an episode of Game of Thrones, we were all set for a medieval feast and I expected the waiters to be calling me “mi’ Lord” and maybe wipe my boots and put a crown on my head whilst I sit on a throne. But alas, no such welcome. Although the setting and waiter’s acting disappointed, the food definitely did not disappoint. Hmmmm….pork belly…Right the food…awesome food! But now I’m struggling to decide whether I should start reading the book first or watch the series…decisions decisions. ARGH!

First Course – Bleeding Stag – nice raw beef sirloin, thinly sliced and a very nice quail egg salad on top

Second Course – Broth of raven's claw and rusty armor – Quail soup with little pouches of pumpkin soup to emulate egg yolks and potato skins to make half egg and raven claw.

Third Course – Chunk of wild pig served on Godswood log, forest fruit – Roast pork belly with roast peaches and grapes, so tasty and beautifully roasted, one of the best pork bellies I’ve had

Fourth Course/Dessert – Textural dessert of the land with dragon's egg, hot liquid gold – Cookie crumbs with milk/white chocolate egg, covered with warm custard which melts the egg. That big chunk of white is vanilla ice cream. A little too much for two people but that definitely filled us up.

As big as it was, we finished! Awesome food all round. We were so stuffed by the end of it and it was only four courses compare to the usual 9-12 course degustations, this was all served in good time, had good taste and wasn’t too pricey either

Definitely a recommended restaurant however this degustation ends April so book quick!!!!
